Sir Gerald marks the 200th Anniversary of Anglo-Nepalese Relations

On 16th March Sir Gerald was the guest of honour at the Nepalese Embassy, at an event to mark the 200th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the United Kingdom.  Sir Gerald joined the Nepalese Ambassador, His Excellency Dr. Durga Bahadur Subedi to celebrate relations between the two countries, lighting a candle to commemorate the occasion.  Later on in the evening Sir Gerald gave an address, in which he emphasised the important role Gurkha soldiers have played in the British Army, the continued trading links between the two countries and the ongoing commitment the UK has shown to Nepal over the last 50 years through, amongst other things, the development aid it has given Nepal, especially following the devastating earthquake in 2015.
