Boost the local economy

Unemployment in Aldershot and Farnborough has fallen by 66% over the last 5 years with only 608 JSA claimants, local youth unemployment has also fallen by 74% (Figures: December 2014). The Government's long term economic plan is woking as many more people go out to work and bring home a pay cheque for their families.

2 million apprenticeships have been created since 2010 and I have supported world leading companies, such as Farnborough-based BAE Systems, who provide first class apprenticeships. I have also championed small local businesses such as North Lane butchers A. Turner & Sons and Pacer Marine yacht chandlers.

With the cut in corporation tax from 28% to 21% and tax cuts for 25 million people, the Conservatives recognise that enterprise and hard work are the key to a sustainable economic recovery enjoyed by all.

I will continue to back local business in Farnborough and Aldershot by speaking out in the interest of local business people in Parliament, facilitating business breakfast networks and supporting the Community Matters Partnership Project which creates apprenticeship opportunities for young people. I will also seek to revitalise Aldershot town centre to boost the local economy.
